Who we are

Crownwork (operated by Orion Creative, LLC) connects Charlotte, NC households with vetted UNC Charlotte students for help around the house. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Call or text us at (704) 817-2429.

Crownwork is an independent platform and is in no way affiliated with, associated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. “UNC Charlotte,” “Charlotte 49ers,” and related names, logos, and marks are trademarks or registered trademarks of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, used here only to describe the student community the platform serves. The University does not operate this platform and never receives your personal information from us.

What we collect

When you sign up, book help, or apply to work, we collect: your name and contact details (including your mobile phone number), your address and service preferences, details about the jobs you request or accept, a photo of the front of a government-issued or student ID used solely for one-time identity verification, and records of your calls, texts, and chat conversations with our booking assistant so we can manage your bookings and keep both sides of every match safe. The printed fields on your ID (name, date of birth, address) are read automatically by Google's Gemini AI models under industry-standard security, with Google acting only as our processing provider; ID images are never shared with other users, sold, or used for advertising.

How we use your information

We use your information to verify accounts, match households with students, schedule and manage jobs, send booking-related communications, provide quotes, improve our service, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

Text messaging (SMS) program

When you contact Crownwork by phone or text, or opt in on our signup forms, you agree to receive text messages from us about your bookings, quotes, verification, and (for students) job alerts. Message frequency varies based on your booking activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchasing any service or of creating an account: text updates are optional, you can use Crownwork fully on the web without them, and you can switch them on or off anytime from your account page. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

When we share information

We share information only as needed to run Crownwork: with the student or household on the other side of a confirmed match (name and job details — never your ID document), and with service providers who help us operate, such as our messaging carrier, voice-agent platform, and hosting providers, who may process data only on our behalf. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Retention and security

ID documents are encrypted, viewed only by our vetting team, and deleted once no longer needed for verification. Other records are kept while your account is active or as required for legal and safety purposes. We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information.

Your choices

You can opt out of texts at any time by replying STOP, request a copy of your information, or ask us to delete your account by contacting us at (704) 817-2429during open hours. We'll update this policy as Crownwork evolves and will post changes on this page.
