The service

Crownwork (operated by Orion Creative, LLC) is a matching service that connects Charlotte-area households with vetted UNC Charlotte students for everyday home tasks. Bookings can be made by calling or texting (704) 817-2429 or through crownwork.app. All jobs take place between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET. By using Crownwork you agree to these terms.

University affiliation and trademarks

Crownwork is an independent platform and is in no way affiliated with, associated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. “UNC Charlotte,” “Charlotte 49ers,” and related names, logos, and marks are trademarks or registered trademarks of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, used here only to describe the student community the platform serves.

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte has not reviewed, approved, or sponsored this platform and is in no way responsible for the platform, its services, or the conduct of any user. Students who offer services through Crownwork do so in their personal capacity as independent providers, not as agents, employees, or representatives of the University. Any use of university names or marks on this site is nominative and descriptive only; no endorsement is implied.

Accounts and verification

You must be 18 or older. Every household and student must complete one-time identity verification and be approved by our team before a first match. Your phone number identifies your account; keep it current. We may suspend or remove accounts that put others at risk or misuse the service.

Identity verification and data security

As part of one-time verification, we ask every household and student to upload a photo of the front of a government-issued or student ID. Uploads travel over encrypted connections (TLS) and are stored encrypted at rest in access-controlled storage that only our vetting team can open. To speed up review, the printed fields on the ID (such as name, date of birth, and address) are read automatically using Google's Gemini AI models, operated on Google's secured AI infrastructure (Google AI / Vertex AI) under industry-standard security practices and Google's API data-protection terms, with Google acting solely as our service provider for that processing.

ID images are used only to verify identity and power safety features. They are never shown to other users, never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with third parties beyond the processing described above. Extracted fields are kept only as needed for verification and safety, and ID images are deleted once no longer required. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Bookings, pricing, and payment

You set the price for each job when you book, between $20 and $600. That price is final and is paid by you directly to the student at the jobsite; you may adjust it up to two times until a student accepts, at which point it locks. Our booking assistant never suggests or estimates prices. Students are independent providers, not employees or agents of Crownwork.

Text messaging terms

By calling or texting us, or opting in on our forms, you agree to receive booking-related text messages from Crownwork. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.

Acceptable use

Jobs must be lawful, safe, and within the everyday-help categories we list. We may decline requests that fall outside daylight hours, outside the greater Charlotte area, or outside what a student can safely do.

Disclaimers and liability

Crownwork provides the matching service "as is." While we verify identity on both sides and review every application, we do not guarantee the outcome of any job. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Crownwork's liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid for the job in question. These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina.
